Ron launched his Veterans Coalition in Green Bay with members of the coalition’s leadership team. The more than 150 members of the coalition will help Ron win in November, so he can continue taking his outsider approach to Washington on issues like jobs for veterans, national security, and getting to the bottom of the problems at the VA.
From the Green Bay Press Gazette:
GREEN BAY – Sen. Ron Johnson made a campaign stop Friday at the Salvation Army in Green Bay to discuss all things veterans.
Johnson, who is running for re-election to the U.S. Senate, held a roundtable discussion with several veterans and supporters from across the state. Topics of discussion included the Department of Veterans Affairs, national security, jobs and other issues.
“We’re talking about how incredibly important it is to keep and honor our promises to the finest among us,” Johnson said.
Senator Johnson has been the chair of the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs for his entire term in office, and he says he takes the post seriously by being open to all perspectives.
He said, “We’ve actually passed 83 pieces of legislation through my committee. 26 now have been signed into law in one way, shape, or the other. That’s a real result. It’s because I use a business person’s approach in a bipartisan fashion, looking for areas of agreement.”
Saturday was a busy day for Johnson, beginning at Lifefest in Oshkosh and ending at the Rib Fest and Balloon Rally with Congressman Sean Duffy in Wausau.
“We stood at the gates and just shook hands for about two and a half, three hours, and just talked to people. We just had a great time. I spent so much time shaking hands, I never had time to get ribs, and as we’re driving home, I’m kind of hungry.”
