Dirty Feingold Campaign Wants to Use More Unauthorized Footage in Attack Ads

Posted October 9, 2010

Milwaukee, WI…Senator Feingold’s attack campaign is stuck in the mud, and tonight he became the first United States Senate candidate in decades to reject a request from the Wisconsin Broadcasters Association (WBA) not to use their footage in attack ads.

The debate between 18-year incumbent Russ Feingold and Oshkosh manufacturer Ron Johnson follows in a long tradition of political discourse facilitated by the WBA, which has produced a statewide broadcast debate in nearly every election for Governor or US Senate for decades.

Moderator John Laabs said in his opening remarks this evening that in the past, every candidate for United States Senate has agreed not to use WBA debate footage in campaign ads. Feingold’s departure marks a first in US Senate races broadcast by the WBA.

“Senator Feingold’s dirty campaign has already been caught using illegally obtained footage from the NFL and used fake people in attack ads, now he’s reached a new low,” according to Juston Johnson, Campaign Manager for Ron Johnson for United States Senate. “No wonder Wisconsin voters are ready for a new voice, Washington has changed Russ Feingold now he’s stuck in the mud.

MILWAUKEE — Wisconsin Sen. Russ Feingold defended his vote for health care reform during a televised debate Friday, and accused Republican challenger Ron Johnson of wanting to replace the program with a system that puts insurance companies in control.

Johnson, who calls the health care law an assault on personal freedoms, countered that the nation’s health care system was already the finest in the world, and needed only minor tweaks to become even better.
