Thanks to Russ, There’s An App For That

Posted August 24, 2010

[Oshkosh, WI] In 2009, Russ Feingold voted for a stimulus bill he said would create jobs and pontificated that the funds should be spent wisely. But since that time Wisconsin has lost more than 78,000 jobs, Feingold is defending his vote, and a new report details 100 egregious examples of unwise stimulus spending.

Scientists at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) are developing Smartphone games for 9th and 10th grade students looking for a portable biology lesson. This program comes as a result of $435,271 of stimulus funds.

These stimulus funds were promised by Senator Feingold to help spur job creation.  Unfortunately for Wisconsin residents, this program will only provide two jobs – not in Wisconsin.

“The fact that only two jobs were created as a result of this amount of spending is simply ridiculous,” said Juston Johnson, Campaign Manager for Ron Johnson for Senate.   “These are serious times that call for serious solutions, not more wasted and reckless spending from our government.  Senator Feingold has spent us into unsustainable debt and has not helped spur job creation in Wisconsin.”

The Johnson Campaign will be highlighting wasteful stimulus spending projects Russ Feingold believes are getting the job done for Wisconsin families until Election Day.

Stimulus Facts:

Feingold Said “Stimulus” Must Be Spent Wisely. “Now that the economic recovery package has been signed into law, our focus must be on the challenges ahead, including getting our fiscal house in order and making sure that there is strong oversight of these taxpayer dollars. These funds must be spent wisely if they are to truly work for Wisconsin’s families.”  (Editorial, “Russ Feingold: Stimulus Package Makes Sense,” La Crosse Tribune, 2/25/2009.)

Three days prior to the signing of the stimulus, Senator Feingold issued a press release saying the stimulus would create 2.4 million jobs in the first year, and about nine million jobs in the first three years. (Senator Russ Feingold, ”Statement of U.S. Russ Feingold On The Economic Recovery Package,” Feingold Press Office, February 10, 2009.)

Feingold Provided the 60th Vote for the Stimulus Package. (H.R. 1, 2009 Roll Call #64: Adopted 60-38, 2/13/09, Feingold Voted Yea)

Since the Stimulus was signed, the State of Wisconsin has lost more than 78,000 jobs. (Source, Bureau of Labor Statistics, www.bls.gov, Accessed August 20, 2010)

Feingold Defends Stimulus Vote. “I don’t apologize for those votes. Those were the right votes.” (“Feingold defends voting record, Hudson Star Observer, 7/28/2010)

New Report Details Misdirected Stimulus Spending. “Stimulus money is going toward iPods for high school students in Utah, cell phones for smokers trying to quit in Washington, D.C., and advertising devoted to the promotion of … the stimulus. The findings are part of a 74-page report put out by a pair of Republican senators who contend the $862 billion program is fraught with needless spending.” (“New GOP Report Details Misdirected Stimulus Spending, Associated Press, 8/3/2010)

For Feingold, A Registered Lobbyist is a “Voice of the People”

Posted August 24, 2010

[Oshkosh, WI] Russ Feingold doesn’t want voters to know he’s an extreme politician who sides with special interests and lobbyists instead of the voters of Wisconsin.  A recent Feingold television ad features a paid lobbyist for the AFL-CIO labor union as well as another employee of the special interest group as he attempts to convince voters he’s “On Our Side.” The ad never identifies the women as AFL-CIO employees.

“Senator Feingold’s belief that using paid lobbyists in his campaign ads is ‘perfectly appropriate,’ is shameful,” Campaign Manager Juston Johnson said.  “After campaigning and telling the people of Wisconsin that he would end the culture of corruption special access for lobbyists in Washington, Senator Feingold now believes that these same lobbyists represent the true voice of the our state.  Feingold does not feel it necessary to answer to the voters of Wisconsin, instead he answers to the special interest groups who help load his campaign chest.

“Voters are sick of Feingold’s deceitful tactics.  He is running scared from his own record as a career politician, but the truth about Feingold is becoming clear,” Johnson continued.  “It is time to restore honest leadership to our state and we need a leader like Ron Johnson who will once again restore a voice to the people – not just the lobbyists.”

Johnson pointed out that this is not the only advertisement exposing Feingold for his real record. Recently, Feingold aired an ad promoting his record on job creation featuring a non-existent person.

Posted August 24, 2010

[Oshkosh, WI] Oshkosh manufacturer and U.S. Senate Candidate Ron Johnson’s campaign launched a new radio ad today, titled “Apple Pie.”  The statewide radio ad highlights Ron Johnson’s proven record of job creation as opposed to Senator Feingold’s record as a career politician.

“These are serious times and Wisconsin needs a serious leader in Washington,” Ron Johnson for Senate campaign spokeswoman Sara Sendek said.  “Ron Johnson is the candidate with a proven record of job creation that the state so badly needs right now.  He’s in the business of building and creating jobs and that is exactly what he will do as Senator.”

OVER THE TOP ANNCR:  Voters of Wisconsin….introducing the perfect candidate.

He’s a family man….he loves puppies…and children….and everything good for everyone…..he even loves apple pie….

RON:   Hold it. Time out.  I’m Ron Johnson and I’m here to talk a little common sense.  This is simply no time for the same old political fluff.  America is in peril, and we need serious answers.

Wisconsin voters have a clear choice.  For the last 30 years, Russ Feingold has been a career politician. At the same time, I’ve been building a business and creating jobs here in Wisconsin.

Russ Feingold thinks government creates jobs….I know first-hand that YOU, and the private sector, are responsible for every job.

We all know that government is crushing us with spending and debt….and Russ Feingold?

He voted for it.

Career politicians won’t bring America back…but you and I can.

I’m Ron Johnson, candidate for US Senate, and I approved this message.

[Oshkosh, WI] Oshkosh manufacturer and U.S. Senate Candidate Ron Johnson’s campaign launched a new television ad today, titled “The Johnson Family.”  The ad, which will appear statewide, features Ron Johnson, wife Jane and children Carey, Jenna and Ben.  The ad illustrates the fact that Johnson is not a professional politician, but rather a concerned citizen who is running for Senate in order to move Wisconsin in the right direction once again.

“The people of Wisconsin are tired of the same old career politicians like Senator Feingold who are out of touch with the everyday hardships that people are facing,” Ron Johnson for Senate Campaign spokeswoman Sara Sendek said.  “The new ad is an opportunity for voters to see that Ron Johnson is a concerned father and citizen, fed up with the direction our country is headed.  With a 31-year record of being a job creator, Ron is the real leader that the people of Wisconsin so badly need.”
