Does Feingold Support Endorser Peggy West’s Geographically-Challenged Immigration Policy?

Posted June 28, 2010

[Oshkosh, WI...] Milwaukee County Board Supervisor Peggy West has had Senator Russ Feingold’s ear for years, and it’s time for the 18-year incumbent to tell Wisconsin voters if he agrees with her immigration policy.

Feingold said he was honored to receive the endorsement of the liberal and geographically-challenged Milwaukee County Supervisor on September 27, 2004. In 2008, Supervisor West was nominated by Feingold to participate in that year’s U.S. Senate Democratic Latina Summit in Washington, DC.

Now, as West declares her opposition to the Arizona immigration law using the rationale that Arizona doesn’t border Mexico (watch the video by clicking here), the Ron Johnson campaign is asking Feingold where he stands on the law.
Does Senator Feingold feel the same as his friend and endorser, Supervisor West, on Arizona’s SB 1070?

Also, has he read the law?

“For a Senator who has issued press releases on everything from ‘World Tuberculosis Day’ to Cinco de Mayo, Feingold has yet to comment publicly on Arizona’s SB 1070 in the two months since its passage sparked a national debate,” said Juston Johnson, Campaign Manager for Ron Johnson for Senate.
Senator Feingold’s record on illegal immigration is one of opposition to current border enforcement.  He supported the 2006 Immigration Law (S.2611, Roll Call #157; 2006) and sought further amnesty measures for those in America illegally by backing the 2007 Immigration Bill proposed by the late Senator Edward Kennedy of Massachusetts (S. 1348, Roll Call 204, Roll Call 206; 2007).

“We’ll continue to ask Senator Feingold just how closely his position on the Arizona immigration law aligns with supporter Peggy West’s until we get an answer,” Johnson said.

Feingold, Biden Don’t Give a Rip About Taxpayers’ Concerns

Posted June 28, 2010

[Oshkosh, WI] Earlier this year Senator Russ Feingold blew off the concerns of voters who took issue with the flawed health care bill and stimulus spending, and he spent Friday campaigning with another career politician who brushes off the worries of voters just as easily.

On Friday, Feingold was fundraising with outsourced help from Vice President Joe Biden, a man who couldn’t give a rip about what small business people think about taxes—and he showed it.

See the video here.

Maybe if the Kopp’s manager who Biden called a “smartass” for requesting lower taxes had been one of the union bosses who spent millions to line Feingold’s and Biden’s campaign coffers, the career politicians might have actually been respectful and listened.

“Feingold and Biden couldn’t get away from a small business person fast enough when he told them what it really takes to create jobs—lower taxes,” said Juston Johnson, Campaign Manager for Ron Johnson for Senate. “Instead of ignoring or mocking taxpayers, Ron Johnson’s campaign has been about listening to the concerns of Wisconsin voters and working to get Wisconsin workers back on the job.”

Biden Admits Stimulus Defeat

Posted June 28, 2010

[Oshkosh, WI] Vice President Biden admitted failure on Friday that the massive deficit spending and trillion dollar stimulus program Senator Feingold passed will not recover the 8 million jobs lost since the beginning of the recession.

“The Vice President might be correct about our job creation prospects if Senator Feingold stays in office,” said Juston Johnson, Campaign Manager for Ron Johnson for Senate. “The professional politicians in Washington have finally admitted their trillions of dollars in new spending did nothing to help Wisconsin workers stay on the job.”

Last year, three days before the stimulus passed, Russ Feingold issued a press release stating the stimulus was expected to create 2.4 million jobs in the first year and about nine million jobs in the first three years. Since that time, the nation has lost an additional 2.2 million jobs.

“Senator Feingold would rather stick with Washington special interests than listen to common sense Wisconsin solutions to strengthen the economy,” said Johnson.“Whether it’s listening to the needs of small business people who are struggling to stay afloat because of the high tax burden or recognizing what it takes to create private sector jobs to revive our economy, Ron Johnson is the antidote to the arrogance of the professional politicians who just keep spending.”
