Johnson: Private Sector Employment Declines Unsustainable

Posted June 18, 2010

[Oshkosh, WI] Oshkosh manufacturer and United States Senate candidate Ron Johnson said a new report indicating Wisconsin lost 7,900 private sector jobs last month while taxpayer-funded jobs were on the rise is another example of Russ Feingold’s trillion dollar stimulus plan hasn’t worked and won’t work.

“I know and Wisconsin workers know private sector jobs fuel our economy and unlike government jobs – many of them temporary – private sector jobs are not funded by the taxpayers,” Johnson said. “Because of Russ Feingold’s reckless spending policies, government is now crowding out private sector growth. Our economic recovery plans need a new direction, and Wisconsin needs a new Senator who won’t undermine the value of private sector economic growth.”

Long-term unemployment numbers are staggering. The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported that in May, the number of Americans out of work six months or longer reached 6.8 million, or 46% of all unemployed people, a new high.
“While millions of Americans are still out of work, Democrats are applauding themselves for borrowing money from future generations to grow the size of our government,” Johnson said. “Russ Feingold had a chance to fix this problem, but he blew it. It’s time we send the career politicians in Washington home to see how the private sector works.”

Johnson, 55, owns PACUR, LLC., and holds a degree in accounting.  PACUR, LLC., is an Oshkosh-based manufacturing facility that specializes in a variety of plastics manufacturing for medical, commercial and industrial purposes.
